The history of Iranian civilization and culture shows the existence of prominent scientific centers such as Jundi Shapur University, which was established in 530 AD and is known as one of the oldest medical schools in the world. This university was established during the Sasanian era and various sciences were taught there. After a period of stagnation, Jundi Shapur University was reactivated in 1334 AH and was renamed to Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. Today, this university has 13 faculties and more than 16,000 students in different degrees, and with its vast educational space, it is considered one of the largest universities in the country.
